๐Ÿ‘‹ Hey, got a minute? (important update)

Plus a quick tool to help you think clearly under pressure

Let me share something I've observed after coaching hundreds of leaders from top organisations like Amazon, Apple, Canva, McKinsey and Accenture:

Most of us are using an outdated operating system for handling pressure.

It goes something like this:

  1. Pressuring situation arises
  2. Stress response kicks in (hello, cortisol and adrenaline)
  3. Brain shifts resources away from rational thinking
  4. We react from instinct rather than intention
  5. Results are... mixed at best

This default pattern worked great when we were running from predators.

Not so helpful when we're trying to negotiate a contract, handle a team conflict, or make a high-stakes decision with incomplete information.

Here's a framework I use with clients that you can try right now:

The Red Centre Method

When you feel pressure mounting, try this:

  1. Acknowledge and accept where you find yourself in that very moment. Take ownership.
  2. Locate where in your body you are experiencing the tension, tightness or some other uncomfortable feeling.
  3. Breathe through that sensation, sitting with it, not forcing it away or allowing yourself to be consumed by it. Step into it, see, feel and experience it, until it begins to dissipate. Avoid clinging to the sensation or trying to force it away, however unpleasant it may be. This will only increase the duration and intensity of the uncomfortable feeling.

Once youโ€™ve taken these steps, begin to clarify what triggered you in the first place.

Sounds simple, right?

It is.

But that doesnโ€™t mean itโ€™s easy, especially when your boss is staring at you waiting for an answer, or your team is looking to you for guidance in a crisis.

The reason it's not easy is that we're literally fighting against our brain's default wiring.

This is exactly why I created the Thrive Under Pressure programme - to give you practical, repeatable frameworks that override these defaults and help you operate at your best when it matters most.

I could go on about this all day, but instead I'll just remind you:
